Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mine Surveyor for underground operations near Tembisa, Gauteng. You will conduct surveys, set out workings, and deliver precise mine plans, cross-sections and volumes to support safe development and production.

You will use total stations, Deswik, Surpac and GPS data capture to support planning, with a strong focus on quality control and regulatory compliance in a demanding underground environment.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
• Professional registration with a relevant body (e.g., PLATO).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, with significant exposure to underground operations.
• Proficiency with surveying software (AutoCAD, Deswik, Surpac) and total station operation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct precise underground surveys, including setting out workings, measuring excavations, and establishing control points.
• Utilise advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and laser scanners for data capture.
• Process and analyse survey data to produce accurate mine plans, cross-sections, and volumetric calculations.
• Monitor and report on mine development progress, ensuring alignment with planned layouts.
• Perform quality control checks on survey data and provide regular updates to the mining engineering team.
• Ensure all survey activities comply with legal requirements and company safety standards for underground mining.
