Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Transportation Engineer to lead traffic management, planning and road design in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will analyze traffic patterns, develop innovative solutions for congestion, and design safe, efficient networks through field studies and collaboration with authorities. The role requires a strong on-site presence, a Civil Engineering degree with a Transportation focus, and Pr.

Eng/Pr. Tech Eng registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech Eng registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation engineering, traffic analysis, and road design.
• Proficiency in traffic modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION, SATURN) and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, geometric design standards, and road safety audits.
• Experience with public transport planning and non-motorized transport facilities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Western Cape region for site assessments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic impact assessments and transportation studies for development projects.
• Develop traffic management plans, including signal timing, intersection design, and road safety strategies.
• Design road infrastructure, including geometric design, pavement design, and drainage systems.
• Analyze traffic data using specialized software to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and other engineers to integrate transportation solutions into broader development plans.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to gather data and monitor construction progress.
• Stay current with advancements in transportation engineering, traffic modeling, and sustainable transport practices.
• Engage with public stakeholders to communicate project plans and gather feedback.
• Ensure designs comply with national and local transportation standards and regulations.
