Job summary

Placements24 seeks an innovative Transportation Engineer to join the planning and design team in Port Elizabeth. You will develop sustainable, efficient transport systems and be involved in traffic analysis, road network design, public transport planning, and multimodal integration.

The role requires a solid grounding in traffic engineering, urban planning concepts, and a passion for safe, accessible, and environmentally friendly mobility for the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Transportation Engineering.
• At least 6 years of experience in transportation planning and design.
• PrEng registration with ECSA preferred.
• Proficiency in traffic analysis software (VISSIM, SIDRA INTERSECTION) and CAD tools.
• Knowledge of SA transport policies, standards and planning frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to present complex data clearly.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traffic studies, demand forecasting, and network analysis for road and public transport systems.
• Design road layouts, intersections, traffic control systems, and pedestrian/cycling facilities.
• Develop transportation master plans and feasibility studies for developments and upgrades.
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and municipal officials to integrate transportation solutions.
• Evaluate environmental and social impacts and propose mitigation measures.
• Use traffic simulation software and data analysis tools to optimize network performance.
