Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Transportation Civil Engineer for Mossel Bay, Western Cape. You will plan, design and oversee critical transport infrastructure, including roads, highways, and public transport facilities. You will contribute across feasibility studies, detailed design and construction oversight to deliver safe, efficient networks.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, a Masters in Transportation Engineering is a plus, and registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master's degree with specialization in Transportation Engineering is a plus.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng. or Candidate Engineer in progress.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering design.
• Experience in road design, traffic analysis, and intersection improvements.
• Proficiency in transportation design and modeling software.
• Strong knowledge of South African road design standards and practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop geometric designs for roads, highways and related infrastructure.
• Conduct traffic studies, capacity analyses and intersection design.
• Prepare specifications, drawings and contract documents for projects.
• Perform site investigations to inform design decisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planners and environmental consultants.
• Oversee construction administration and provide site support.
• Ensure designs comply with national and provincial standards and regulations.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, PTV Vissim and Synchro for modeling.
• Contribute to proposals and client presentations.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in transportation engineering.
