Job summary

Cashbuild is seeking a Trainee Manager (External Applications Only) for our Sterkspruit store in the EC region of South Africa. The role focuses on protecting and growing market share while supporting store strategy, budgets, and customer service excellence.

Key responsibilities include assisting the Store Manager with business planning, stock control, HR processes, health and safety compliance, and day-to-day store leadership.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with at least 2 years retail management experience.
• Valid Drivers license.
• Valid ID or work permit (local).
• Strong accounting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Computer literate (MS Office).
• Strong leadership and administrative skills.
• Own transport and cell phone.
• Sound knowledge of Health and Safety (OHSA).
• Strong HR skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager to develop and implement a Store Business Plan aligned with company strategy.
• Support growth and protection of market share and sales budgets by category.
• Support customer service strategy, audits, delivery service, VIC client base, and range improvements.
• Assist asset control: stock, cash, fixed assets, and related processes.
• Assist HR activities including recruitment, induction, training, succession planning and communication with staff.
• Assist with OHSA compliance, safety checklists, safety reps, and incident reporting.
• Support merchandising standards, planograms, and store cleanliness.
• Assist in debtors, petty cash, daily banking, and cash control.
• Support integrity, accuracy, and client-focused service across store operations.
• Demonstrate leadership, planning, delegation, and performing under pressure.
