Job summary

Wild Dreams Hospitality seeks a hands-on guiding professional to lead armed walking safaris in Big Five terrain, delivering confident guest experiences while upholding safety and conservation standards.

You will mentor junior guides, maintain vehicles and equipment, coordinate with lodge management, and share wildlife knowledge during game drives and walks to enhance guest experiences.

Qualifications

• FGASA Trails Guide qualification (or working towards)
• ARH competency
• PrDP
• Strong bushcraft, tracking and wildlife knowledge
• Excellent guest engagement and storytelling ability
• Calm, safety-conscious approach to leading guests on foot in Big Five terrain
• Reliable, disciplined, and comfortable working in a remote, team-based environment

Responsibilities

• Lead armed walking safaris and guided bush experiences for guests
• Conduct game drives and share in-depth wildlife and ecological knowledge
• Prioritise guest safety at all times while on foot and in-vehicle
• Build genuine rapport with guests to enhance their overall stay
• Uphold the reserve's guiding and service standards consistently
• Mentor and support junior or trainee guides where required
• Maintain guiding vehicles, rifles, and equipment to a high standard
• Liaise closely with lodge and reserve management on guest requirements
• Contribute to the reserve's broader conservation and monitoring efforts

Job description

This is a hands‑on guiding role suited to someone who leads with confidence in the bush and connects easily with guests. The reserve places a strong emphasis on guest experience and safety standards, and is open to investing in the right character through further in‑house training and qualification.

Core Criteria:

• FGASA Trails Guide qualification (or working towards one) with proven walking safari experience
• Valid Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH) competency
• Valid PrDP and clean driving record
• Strong bushcraft, tracking and wildlife knowledge
• Excellent guest engagement and storytelling ability
• Calm, safety-conscious approach to leading guests on foot in Big Five terrain
• Reliable, disciplined, and comfortable working in a remote, team-based environment
