Job summary

Sibanye Stillwater in South Africa seeks a Supervisor for development/stoping blasting to support safe daily production. You will oversee blasting operations, ensure adherence to schedules, and maintain strict safety and reporting standards on-site.

Ideal candidates will have mining blasting certificates and relevant experience; this is a on-site role with a focus on safe production and operational excellence within the mining cycle.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent
• National Certificates level 2 in Mining or related qualifications
• Mining certification and competency as required by legislation

Responsibilities

• Mine production supervision and execution of blasting operations.
• Conduct and/or supervise early morning examinations according to procedures.
• Prepare the face for daily blast and supervise the cycle of operation.
• Sign for and adhere to blasting schedules; ensure charging procedures are followed.
• Monitor daily progress and initiate corrective action as required.
• Supervise end of shift procedures and complete shift reports.
• Order explosives and maintain inventory of equipment; ensure safety compliance.
• Develop and maintain stakeholder relations and ensure open communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Mining operation (production)
• Conduct and/ or supervise early morning examinations according to procedures
• Prepare the face for daily blast

• Ensure charging up procedures and standards are adhered to including connecting up time
• Supervise end of shift procedures
• Monitor daily advance measurements and initiate corrective action

• Assess staff performance, give constructive feedback and schedule required training
• Support the induction of new employees into the Development/ Stoping team
