Job summary

Sibanye Stillwater is seeking a MINER to safely open ore reserves through face blasting and extract ore from underground workings. You will contribute to meeting production targets by blasting underground excavations on the stoping horizon, including development waste and reef footprint, while upholding safety and SHERQ standards.

The role requires blasting certification, a Grade 10 or equivalent, and 2–3 years of mining experience with a valid first aid certificate and fitness to work.

Responsibilities

• Oversees production and safe blasting operations.
• Conducts daily re-entry examinations and marks reef bands.
• Coordinates face charging and blasting with geological reports.
• Plans and coordinates mining activities to meet targets and budgets.
• Completes documentation and administration accurately.
• Manages leave cycles and production targets.
• Utilises resources efficiently (materials, machinery, people).
• Provides coaching and on-the-job training to staff.
• Ensures SHERQ compliance and PPE adherence.
• Investigates incidents and implements corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Production

• Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff.

• Ensure fair work allocation for team members.

• Ensure that team members adhere to PPE requirements.
• Participate in required SHERQ meetings, interventions and campaigns.
• Conducts accidents and incidents investigations and implement necessary measures to avoid re-occurrence.
• Ensuring compliance to mine standards and procedures.
• Reporting of all incidents and/or near miss incidents to the relevant parties.
• Liaising with safety representatives and team members.
• Conduct Safe Behavioural Observations (SBOs) and Planned Task Observations (PTOs).
• Maintain and comply with SHERQ standards within the work environment.
• Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
