Job summary

Placements24 in Bloemfontein, Free State, is seeking a Telecommunications Network Planner to help design and expand our client’s network infrastructure. You will analyze capacity, forecast needs, and design architectures for mobile, fixed-line, and broadband to ensure scalable connectivity.

You will collaborate with engineering and operations teams to translate strategy into actionable network plans, while ensuring regulatory compliance and vendor coordination on equipment and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications network planning, design, or engineering.
• Strong understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, MPLS, Ethernet, wireless).
• Familiarity with capacity planning techniques and forecasting models.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency in project management principles is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Analyze current network capacity and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and future planning.
• Develop long-term network expansion plans, including capacity forecasts and technology roadmaps.
• Design optimal network architectures for services including mobile, fixed-line, and broadband.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs meet technical, operational, and financial requirements.
• Prepare detailed network plans, schematics, and documentation for new deployments.
• Evaluate new network technologies and propose their integration into the existing infrastructure.
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new network build-outs.
• Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers regarding network equipment and services.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in network planning.
• Support operational teams with technical guidance during network implementation and upgrades.
