Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Telecom Network Operations Specialist to join their Richards Bay team. In a hybrid role, you will monitor, manage and troubleshoot the network infrastructure to ensure peak performance and service quality for a broad customer base.

You will work in a NOC-style environment, performing diagnostics, documenting incidents, and coordinating with engineering and support teams to restore and maintain network stability.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in ICT/telecommunications.
• 1–3 years in network operations or IT support in telecoms.
• Familiar with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network traffic, performance metrics, and system health using advanced network management tools.
• Respond promptly to network alerts and incidents, performing initial diagnostics and implementing corrective actions to restore service.
• Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers or relevant support teams with detailed problem descriptions.
• Perform routine network health checks, system backups, and software updates on network devices.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, operational procedures, and incident reports.
• Participate in shift work to provide 24/7 network monitoring and support as required.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in network operations, IT support, or a similar technical role within the telecoms industry.
• Familiarity with network monitoring software and ticketing systems.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks during network outages or critical events.
