First Point Group seeks a Technical Sales Consultant based in Nelspruit to oversee and grow the installer network across Mpumalanga. The role is field-focused, requiring regular travel and overnight stays as the territory extends to Lydenburg, Dullstroom, and surrounding areas.

Although titled sales, this is a technical account management position. You will provide hands-on troubleshooting, on-site product training and escalation support, with CRM logging and weekly reporting.

• Technical diploma or N4 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 years in a technical sales, field support or field technician role, preferably in access automation or electronic security.
• Hands-on experience with gate motors, garage door operators, access control, intercoms or related products advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle, with willingness to travel long distances and stay overnight when needed.
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, Nelspruit/Mbombela.
• Stable internet connection for VoIP, remote meetings and CRM use.
• Fluent in English; any additional South African language a plus.

Technical Sales Consultant — Nelspruit (Mbombela), Mpumalanga

Our client, a well-established South African manufacturer of gate automation and access control products, is looking for a Technical Sales Consultant based in Nelspruit to look after and grow its installer network across Mpumalanga.

This is a regional role with a large territory. It extends well beyond Nelspruit to towns such as Lydenburg, Dullstroom and the surrounding areas. Regular long-distance travel is part of the job, and overnight stays will be needed for the furthest parts of the region. Candidates must be comfortable spending much of the week on the road.

Despite the title, this is a technical account management role rather than a traditional sales position. There is no quoting, invoicing or selling to a target. You will build strong, long-term relationships with an established base of installers and help them make the most of the full product and service range. You will be given the customer lists, data and systems you need. From there it is up to you to plan your territory, book your own meetings and go out to see customers in person, including those in outlying areas who have not been visited in some time.

A large part of the role is technical. Installers will look to you for help with installation queries, diagnostics and escalations on site. You will provide hands‑on troubleshooting support and pass unresolved issues to the internal technical support and product quality teams. You will also deliver product training in the field and act as an ambassador for the brand. Every interaction is logged in the CRM, and you will submit weekly reports on site visits, installer feedback, market trends and competitor activity. You will be supported by a central control room team that coordinates bookings, claims and day‑to‑day operations for consultants across the country.

The ideal candidate combines solid technical and troubleshooting ability with the drive to go out and create their own work. You may come from a field technician, installer, technical support or technical sales background in access automation, electronic security or a related industry. What matters most is that you are proactive, quick on your feet, strong at building relationships and able to think strategically about how to manage a large territory. Product knowledge can be taught, but the right attitude cannot.
