• Minimum 4 years’ construction/engineering surveying experience (2 years post-WIL).
• Proven experience in setting out and as-builts.
• Competent with GNSS and total station workflows.
• Proficiency in ModelMaker.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills: you must be willing to ask questions and clarify the brief when needed.
• Strong numerical ability and basic mental arithmetic: you must be able to sanity-check measurements and calculations without relying on a calculator.
• Valid driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years’ driving experience.

Job description

Survey Technician (Intermediate) – Construction / Engineering, Pretoria East

Qualified technicians only: National Diploma in Surveying + minimum 4 years’ experience (at least 2 years post-WIL). This is not a P1/P2 or WIL position.

About Us

Botes Land Surveyors is a team of experienced Professional Land & Engineering Surveyors based in Pretoria East. We work with architects, engineers, contractors and municipalities across Gauteng and the northern provinces, with a strong emphasis on accuracy in high-rise developments and infrastructure projects.

Our work goes well beyond conventional surveying. Alongside construction and engineering setting out, as-builts, cadastral and topographical surveys, we offer 3D laser scanning, BIM modelling, fixed-wing LIDAR and drone mapping. You’ll build your core skills on construction and civil sites while getting real exposure to the technology-driven side of the profession.

The Role

This is a full-time position (subject to probation) on one of our field teams. You’ll be expected to work independently while continuing to develop professionally. Work includes:

• Construction and civil setting out
• As-built, topographical and building surveys
• Cadastral surveying
• GNSS and total station work
• Ensuring all measurements are accurate and within the client’s specifications

The role involves occasional travel, with overnight stays, mainly in the northern provinces.

Compensation & Benefits

Market-related, based on experience. A company vehicle is provided. Candidates with their own reliable vehicle are also welcome, in which case a vehicle allowance at AA rates applies.
