Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geologist for a Durban-based role with a hybrid work model. The successful candidate will analyze seismic data, logs, and core samples to delineate reservoirs and build 3D geological models, working closely with reservoir engineers and geophysicists.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Geology and at least 5 years of oil and gas exploration experience, with proficiency in Petrel or GeoGraphix and strong knowledge of sedimentary geology and well log analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or related geoscience field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Geologist in oil and gas exploration.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software and data interpretation tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze seismic data, well logs, and core samples to delineate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models using specialized software.
• Interpret geological data to assess reservoir quality, heterogeneity, and depositional environments.
• Collaborate with the subsurface team to integrate geological interpretations with geophysical and engineering data.
• Contribute to prospect evaluation, risking, and volumetric assessment for new ventures.
• Prepare geological reports and presentations for internal review and decision-making processes.
