Placements24 in Paarl is seeking a qualified Substation Maintenance Technician to join our essential services team. You will inspect, test, and perform preventive maintenance on substation equipment to uphold reliability and safety of the regional power supply.

The role requires a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, at least four years' experience, and the ability to read schematics and work with high-voltage systems.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in substation maintenance or related field.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on substation equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
• Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of electrical faults.
• Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components according to specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company procedures, including LOTO.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new substation equipment.
