Placements24 is seeking a diligent Substation Engineer in Richards Bay to lead design, construction, and maintenance of high‑voltage substations essential to the region’s power supply. You will ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency of power assets while collaborating with project teams and field personnel.

You will design equipment, create diagrams and layouts, conduct site inspections, and manage commissioning.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation design and engineering.
• Experience with high‑voltage substation principles, safety practices, and relevant standards.

Responsabilidades

• Design and specify substation electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, busbars, and protection relays.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings for substation projects.
• Conduct site inspections and oversee construction and commissioning of substations and upgrades.
• Perform substation maintenance planning and troubleshoot faults and equipment failures.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with national/international standards (NRS, IEC).
• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation.

About the Role

This role is essential for the design, construction, and maintenance of high-voltage substations that are critical to the region's power supply. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of these vital energy assets, working closely with project teams and field personnel. Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify substation electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, busbars, and protection relays.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings for substation projects.
• Conduct site inspections and oversee the construction and commissioning of new substations and upgrades.
• Perform substation maintenance planning and troubleshooting of electrical faults and equipment failures.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., NRS, IEC).
• Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation for substation developments.

Requirements
