Job summary

Emeris Sandton Campus seeks a Student Wellness Specialist to provide emotional and mental health counselling, support student wellbeing, and coordinate campus welfare initiatives. You will design awareness campaigns, lead community engagement and volunteering programmes, manage budgets, and report on wellness activities to the national office.

The role involves collaboration with academic operations, student experience teams, and external NGOs, ensuring confidentiality and compliant service

Qualifications

• Postgraduate Diploma / Bachelor Honours in Counselling Psychology or Social Work (NQF 8).
• Ideal qualification: Social Worker / Psychologist (NQF 9).
• Minimum 2 years Trauma Counselling experience.
• Minimum 2 years Community Engagement experience.
• Registered with SA Social Work/Health Prof Council and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual counselling and determine referrals to external services as needed.
• Offer coping strategies and skills to students for life challenges.
• Obtain signed consent before first counselling session and maintain records.
• Build trust and establish communication between campus and students.
• Assist in creating referral networks for secondary counselling and campaigns.
• Plan bi-annual awareness campaigns with stakeholder collaboration and NHOs.
