Job summary

Higher Health is seeking a Registered Counsellor to provide supportive psychological interventions for students in East London, South Africa. The role focuses on early intervention, brief support, and collaboration with campus health teams.

Responsibilities include delivering individual and group counselling, psychoeducational workshops, and tele-psychosocial services to diverse student populations. You will contribute to mental health policy alignment and referral pathways within the university

Qualifications

• Experience delivering individual and group counselling in university settings.
• Ability to design and deliver psychoeducational workshops and campaigns.
• Knowledge of HPCSA scope and guidelines within higher education.

Responsibilities

• Deliver supportive, evidence-based psychological interventions (individual and group).
• Design and implement components of intervention programmes aligned to campus priorities.
• Provide tele-psychosocial support to improve access for off-campus/international students.
• Coordinate referrals to psychologists and other mental health professionals.
• Monitor service utilization, outcomes, and ensure confidential documentation.
