Job summary

Rory Mackie & Associates seeks a seasoned Asset Management professional to join the Portfolio Implementation team in Cape Town. You will implement investment views, oversee trade orders, and optimize portfolio processes across Fixed Income, Equity and Multi Asset portfolios.

The role requires 3+ years in asset management, strong knowledge of asset classes, and proficiency in Excel/Power BI; Bloomberg experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a relevant degree; CFA or CA is advantageous.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in Asset Management.
• Strong understanding of all asset classes: equity, money market, fixed income and derivatives.
• Experience with Charles River is highly advantageous.
• Ability to participate in cross-functional projects and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven experience managing portfolio transitions, restructures, or asset transfers.
• Proficiency in Excel; VBA/Power BI; coding in Python/SQL desirable.
• Familiarity with Bloomberg and strong communication skills.
• Keen interest in financial markets and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Partner with portfolio managers and traders to implement investment views across Fixed Income, Equity and Multi Asset portfolios.
• Oversee trade orders from inception to completion.
• Develop expertise in the order management system and improve processes.
• Handle oversight of fund cash flows, rebalancing, and monitoring asset allocations, cash positions, and FX sweeps.
• Manage currency hedging for portfolios, including rolls and adjustments.
• Develop understanding of investment mandates and ensure compliance with guidelines and regulations.
• Embrace AI tools like Claude to streamline legacy processes.
• Manage portfolio transitions and restructures to deliver optimal client outcomes.
