Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Planning Engineer for a fully remote role with ties to Durban, South Africa. You will develop long-term mine plans for open-pit and underground operations and optimize resource extraction from a distance.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in mine planning, proven use of Deswik, Vulcan or XACT, plus strong analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proven expertise with leading mine planning software packages.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term and short-term mine plans for open-pit and underground operations.
• Utilize Deswik, Vulcan or XACT to create optimized production schedules and designs.
• Conduct feasibility studies, economic evaluations and scenario analyses.
• Collaborate with geology, operations and engineering teams in a remote setting.
• Perform mine design activities, including slope analysis and haul road planning.
• Ensure safety, environmental and regulatory compliance in planning.
