Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join a globally distributed team, focusing on strategic planning and operational efficiency. The position is fully remote, with preference for familiarity with the Western Cape region's geological context, and involves overseeing mine design, planning and optimization to ensure safety and economic viability.

You will lead feasibility studies, implement best practices, and support site-based teams using Deswik and Mine2-4D,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in mine planning and operations.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning/design software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and remotely.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine mine plans, schedules, and budgets for open-pit and underground operations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and expansions.
• Implement and monitor best practices in mine design, safety protocols, and environmental management.
• Utilize Deswik and Mine2-4D for 3D modeling and optimization.
• Provide technical support to site-based engineering teams across distances.
• Analyze production data to identify improvements and cost reductions.
