Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior HR Manager for our mining services client in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This strategic role leads HR functions, driving talent management, employee relations, compensation, and compliance to support growth and operational excellence.

You will lead a team of HR professionals, advising senior management, and ensuring on-site leadership in a demanding environment. Prior mining experience and strong labor-law knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
• Master’s degree highly desirable.
• Minimum 10+ years HR experience with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
• Extensive mining/heavy industrial HR experience essential.
• Expertise in employee relations, talent management, compensation & benefits, and HR compliance.
• Strong knowledge of South African labor law and HR best practices.
• Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and influencing skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience with HRIS systems and advanced reporting tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote and demanding operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives and operational needs.
• Oversee talent acquisition, performance management, development, and succession planning.
• Manage employee relations and ensure compliance with labour laws.
• Administer compensation and benefits programs tailored to mining regions.
• Ensure adherence to SA labor legislation and health and safety regulations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team for high performance.
• Drive change management and organizational development initiatives.
• Develop and manage the HR budget and HR reporting.
• Foster relationships with employees, management, unions, and external stakeholders.
• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the workforce.
