Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Mining Engineer for our client, a leading mining house, to lead on-site Kimberley operations in the Northern Cape. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and profitability through strong technical expertise and team leadership.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering, 7+ years in open-pit/underground mining, and Pr.Eng/ECSA eligibility, with a readiness to work on-site and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field required.
• 7+ years progressive mining engineering experience with extractive operations.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) with ECSA or eligible for registration.
• Willingness to work on-site in Kimberley and travel within Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, and supervise mining operations (open-pit/underground).
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Optimize mining processes to maximize resource recovery and minimize costs.
• Lead a team of mining personnel (geologists, surveyors, operators).
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new projects or expansions.
• Oversee procurement and maintenance of mining equipment and machinery.
• Implement production schedules and ensure targets are met.
• Analyze geological data and mine plans to inform strategies.
• Contribute to mine closure planning.
