Ideal candidate brings 7+ years of open-pit experience, strong budgeting, geotechnical knowledge, and leadership abilities to drive efficiency and environmental stewardship within a major mining group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of open-pit mining engineering experience focused on operations and planning.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan or MineSight.
• Solid geotechnical, slope stability, and blast design knowledge.
• Experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies.
• Strong safety, environmental practices in mining.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective leadership and team management.
• Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain short- and long-term mine plans, including production scheduling, resource modeling, and waste management.
• Design and optimize open-pit layouts, including pit slopes, haul roads, and bench configurations.
• Oversee drilling, blasting, loading and hauling operations to ensure efficient ore and waste movement.
• Conduct mine surveys and ensure the accuracy of mine plans and volumetric calculations.
• Implement and monitor safety procedures, risk assessments, and environmental compliance within the mining area.
• Analyze operational performance data, identify areas for improvement, and implement efficiency gains.
• Manage and mentor junior mining engineers and technical staff.
• Liaise with geologists, surveyors, maintenance, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
• Prepare technical reports, budget inputs, and feasibility studies related to open-pit operations.
