Job summary

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites applications for a Business Development Manager in the BD&C office, Pretoria. The role covers local and international business development across mining-focused markets, guiding opportunities from pre-leads to secured sales.

You will analyse industries, package and de-risk opportunities, and build strategic partnerships while growing diversification income for designated areas. The role reports to the BD&C Executive.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering with Mining industry focus and minimum 10 years in research/tech development.
• MBA or post-graduate business development qualification is an advantage.
• Experience in business development lifecycle activities, systems engineering and international contract negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Grow business in designated areas through the BD lifecycle from leads to contracts.
• Identify clients and opportunities for CSIR's technology portfolio and form partnerships.
• Develop proposals with CSIR Impact Area teams, partners and clients/funders.
• Lead technology transfer initiatives for designated areas.
• Manage internal and external stakeholders and negotiate terms and conditions.
