Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, mechatronic, electromechanical, electronic or related engineering.
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating environments.
• Experience in model-based engineering, simulation, digital twins, or lifecycle development is advantageous.
• Experience with ROS, Siemens NX, MATLAB, Python, JavaScript, Angular, Node.js, Firebase, HTML or C# is advantageous.
• Experience with mining systems such as trackless machinery, locomotives, hoists or monitoring systems is advantageous.
• Evidence of successful project management and multidisciplinary team coordination.
• Knowledge of mining value chain and modernisation technologies.
• Professional registration with ECSA is advantageous.
• A minimum of ten years' engineering design experience in relevant environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition of user and system requirements, architecture, subsystem specs and interfaces for mining systems.
• Translate mining challenges into engineering requirements and solution concepts.
• Apply systems engineering to ensure safety, manufacturability, maintainability and lifecycle readiness.
• Design, develop and optimise intelligent sensor networks, actuation systems and mechatronic subsystems for mining.
• Support development of modern mining solutions across rock mass monitoring, ventilation, health monitoring and related areas.
• Enable data extraction, real-time integration and digital solution development across equipment and processes.
• Identify and assess risks of introducing new technologies into mining systems.
• Develop test procedures, verification plans and validation protocols.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams from scoping to handover and delivery.
• Prepare project estimates, resource plans, schedules and budget inputs; monitor delivery against scope and quality.
