Datacentrix is seeking a Senior Information Technology Specialist to assist with operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the technology infrastructure and systems in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. This permanent position focuses on network operations, server support, and end-user assistance.

Required are 5–8 years of LAN/WAN generalist experience, MCSE or equivalent, and strong Windows Server, IIS, Exchange/O365/Azure skills.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and MCSE or equivalent certification.
• Minimum 5–8 years as a generalist in LAN/WAN environments.
• 5 years' experience supporting end users in a Microsoft Server environment.

Responsibilities

Our Datacentrix client is looking for a Senior Information Technology Specialist to assist with operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the technology infrastructure and systems. The position is based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. Permanent job opportunity.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Provide coverage and support for Network operations and Information Technology Department as directed by supervisor.
• Provide technical support for the Business Unit.
• Monitor and maintain Business Unit services.
• Analyze log files and investigate and correct or record errors that are are discovered.
• Monitor Business Unit server and data backup processes.
• Configure network devices as directed.
• Work with systems for endpoint device management. Includes software distribution, updates, patching virus protection, imaging and maintenance routines.
• Assist with network account creation and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain scripts and programs that automate repetitive tasks and data transfer.
• Technical specifications and infrastructure requirements for self- produced technical work and job processes.
• Ensure that Service tickets are closed or escalated promptly.
• Ensure regularly scheduled technical tasks are accomplished on time.
• May be required to travel between various sites.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Support the department as a whole to achieve its mission and demonstrate its values.
• Participate in professional development and lifelong learning endeavors.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• A Microsoft MCSE or equivalent qualification.
• At least 5 – 8 years as a generalist in an LAN/WAN environment.
• Minimum 5 years work experience supporting end users’ network in a Microsoft Server environment.
• Sound working knowledge of current Microsoft Windows Desktop, Server Operating systems and basic web technologies such as Microsoft IIS, and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services essential.
• Experience in Exchange, O365, Azure and Threat detection advantageous.
• A working knowledge of the following: Internet protocols, VPN & Firewalls, encryption and certificates. Hyper-V, VMware or similar virtualization technology, SCVMM is preferable.
• Network troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintenance, HP Aruba LAN and Wi-Fi essential.
• Device management software such as SCCM and SCOM preferable.
