Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Restaurant Shift Manager for an on-site role in Benoni to oversee service operations during shifts, supervise front-of-house staff, and uphold high standards of quality and service. You will open/close, manage staff on duty, handle guest inquiries and complaints, and ensure operational efficiency.

• Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of service staff.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Customer-focused with a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences.
• Experience with POS systems is essential.
• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality-related certification is a plus.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
• Attention to detail in service and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead restaurant staff during shifts to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Manage table reservations, guest seating, and overall dining room flow.
• Ensure adherence to all service standards, hygiene regulations, and safety protocols.
• Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
• Train and mentor new and existing staff members on service procedures and menu knowledge.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures for the restaurant.
• Manage inventory levels for service supplies and assist with stock takes.
• Ensure accurate cash handling and reconciliation at the end of shifts.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and quality food service.
