Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a leading oil & gas service provider near Upington, Northern Cape, seeks a highly experienced Senior Well Intervention Specialist to plan, execute and manage complex well intervention projects.

The role requires deep knowledge of intervention techniques, strong safety discipline, robust operational planning, and the ability to mentor junior staff while delivering reliable production enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years in well intervention, completions, or production operations.
• Experience with slickline, coiled tubing and electric line.
• Knowledge of downhole tools and artificial lift systems.
• Strong leadership, communication and risk management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design well intervention programs, including workovers and production optimization.
• Select equipment, tools and materials ensuring safety and technical integrity.
• Oversee on-site execution and adherence to plans and safety procedures.
• Analyze well performance data before, during and after intervention.
• Collaborate with clients, operations teams and third‑party providers.
• Prepare reports with findings, recommendations and cost summaries.
• Mentor and guide junior specialists and field personnel.
• Stay current with new technologies and best practices.
