Placements24 is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join a fully remote team supporting nationwide projects, including Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will lead planning, design, and analysis of water resource infrastructure, applying advanced hydrological/hydraulic models and delivering comprehensive technical reports. The role requires a MSc in Water Resources, Pr.

Eng. with ECSA, and at least 10 years’ experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with Water Resources specialization.
• Professional registration as Pr. Eng. with ECSA.
• 10+ years of progressive water resources engineering experience.
• Experience with hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS, EPANET, InfoWorks ICM).
• Experience designing and managing water supply and wastewater systems.
• Knowledge of South African water laws and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience leading remote projects/teams.
• Experience analyzing data from dispersed locations (e.g., Richards Bay region).

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and analysis of water resource infrastructure projects.
• Develop hydrological and hydraulic models to assess water availability and flood risks.
• Conduct feasibility studies, impact assessments, and cost-benefit analyses.
• Prepare technical reports, design documents, specifications, and tender submissions.
• Provide expert advice on water management policies, regulations, and best practices.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technical staff working remotely.
• Collaborate with clients, government agencies, and stakeholders to meet objectives.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources remotely.
• Ensure compliance with national and international water resource standards and environmental legislation.
• Champion innovative approaches to water conservation, reuse, and sustainable management.
