Placements24 is seeking a Water Resources Engineer for Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role covers planning, design, and management of water infrastructure, including dams, reservoirs, pipelines, and treatment facilities. This is a fully remote position with flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa.

The ideal candidate will lead hydrological modeling, hydraulic design, and environmental mitigation, collaborating with clients and regulators to deliver sustainable water solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with Water Resources specialization.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA.
• 8+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling and pipeline design.
• Proficiency with GIS and engineering software.
• Ability to work remotely and manage projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological studies, water balance analyses, and demand forecasting for water resource management.
• Design and optimize water supply systems, including dams, reservoirs, pump stations, and treatment plants.
• Develop detailed designs for pipelines, canals, and associated hydraulic structures.
• Perform hydraulic modeling and simulations using industry-standard software to assess system performance and identify design improvements.
• Assess environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies for water infrastructure projects.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, design documentation, and tender specifications.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, and regulatory authorities to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on water resource engineering matters.
• Stay abreast of new technologies, methodologies, and regulatory changes in the water sector.
• Oversee the construction phase of water infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with designs and specifications.
