Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Civil Engineer specializing in water resources to join their Bloemfontein team. The role covers design and management of water supply, wastewater, stormwater, and dam projects, with a mix of office work and site visits.

You will lead feasibility studies, prepare drawings and tender documents, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with clients and regulators. A 5-year background in water resources and a Civil Engineering degree are required; ECSA registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Water or Environmental specialization.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng or Candidate Engineer preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in water resources engineering including design & project management.
• Experience in water/wastewater treatment plant design or distribution systems.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modelling tools (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, EPANET).

Responsibilities

• Design and plan water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Develop hydraulic models for water distribution and sewerage systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments.
• Prepare detailed drawings, specifications and tender documents.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, resources.
• Oversee construction activities with design and quality standards.
• Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
• Conduct site investigations and data collection.
• Stay updated on technologies; mentor junior staff.
