Placements24 in Stellenbosch is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of modern transportation infrastructure across the Western Cape. You will manage complex projects, mentor teams, liaise with clients and authorities, and ensure safe, sustainable mobility solutions.

The role is office-based with occasional site visits and local travel. Candidates should hold a transportation/civil engineering degree and PrEng registration, with at least seven years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation or Civil Engineering with a transportation focus.
• PrEng registration with ECSA or eligible for registration.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in transportation planning and design.
• Proficiency with traffic simulation and modeling software.
• Strong knowledge of road design standards and ITS.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and analysis of transportation projects including roads and public transport.
• Develop traffic models and conduct impact assessments for development proposals.
• Prepare designs and specifications using transportation software.
• Manage project teams, budgets, and schedules.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to secure project approvals.
• Oversee construction phases and ensure quality assurance.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• Prepare technical reports and proposals.
• Ensure compliance with standards and contribute to ITS initiatives.
