Job summary

Placements24 seeks a seasoned Structural Engineer to design, analyze and supervise structural elements for industrial facilities, bridges and commercial buildings in Richards Bay. You will produce detailed drawings, calculations and reports, working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure code compliance and project success.

The ideal candidate has a strong theoretical foundation, 10+ years of experience, Pr.Eng registration, and proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro and Revit Structure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering with a structural specialization.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design and project delivery.
• Experience with steel, concrete, and masonry structures.
• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro and Revit Structure.
• Solid knowledge of SANS and international codes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills.
• Experience working in KwaZulu-Natal, especially Richards Bay, is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and specify structural systems for a wide range of construction projects.
• Develop structural drawings, calculations, and reports using advanced software.
• Coordinate with architects and other disciplines to integrate designs.
• Conduct site investigations and monitor construction for structural integrity.
• Provide technical guidance to teams and review contractor submittals.
• Manage scope, budget, and schedule in coordination with project managers.
• Keep up-to-date with new structural engineering technologies.

Education

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering (with a structural specialization)

Pr.Eng registration with ECSA

10+ years of structural engineering design and project delivery experience

Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, Revit Structure)

Strong understanding of South African National Standards (SANS) and international codes

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills

Effective communication and leadership abilities to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
