This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality bridge designs for major road and rail projects across Limpopo and surrounding provinces. You will be responsible for leading the structural design, analysis, and detailing of various bridge typologies, ensuring safety, durability, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of bridge engineering principles, relevant design codes, and specialized software. This position involves a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for focused analysis and design in the Polokwane office, supplemented by necessary site visits and client meetings. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of bridges, including beam bridges, suspension bridges, and arch bridges.
• Perform complex structural calculations and modeling using specialized bridge design software.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with South African National Standards (SANS) for bridges and relevant international codes.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, road designers, and other specialists to develop integrated project solutions.
• Conduct site investigations and construction supervision for bridge projects, ensuring adherence to design requirements.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals from contractors for bridge components.
• Mentor and guide junior structural engineers and technicians specializing in bridge engineering.
• Manage structural engineering aspects of projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Stay updated with innovations and best practices in bridge engineering technology and materials.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Bridge Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience in the design and analysis of bridges.
• Proven expertise in bridge design software (e.g., MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge, LUSAS) and general structural analysis tools.
• Thorough understanding of bridge load ratings, seismic design, and fatigue analysis.
• Experience with various bridge construction methods and materials.
• Strong project management and leadership capabilities.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a hybrid work model, splitting time between the Polokwane office and site locations.
• Valid driver's license.
