Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, analysis, and detailing of complex bridge structures, ensuring compliance with all relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and international codes. Perform advanced structural calculations and simulations using state-of-the-art software. Prepare detailed technical specifications, reports, and tender documents. Conduct site investigations, surveys, and provide on-site engineering support during construction phases. Review and approve design drawings, calculations, and methodologies submitted by team members and sub-contractors. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure project delivery within scope and constraints. Collaborate closely with clients, project managers, architects, and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Mentor and guide junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Implement and promote best practices in structural engineering and construction safety protocols.

Requirements

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution. Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is essential. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with a significant focus on bridge design and construction. Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects. Expertise in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, MIDAS Civil, or similar.
