Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of progressive bridge design/analysis experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of concrete, steel, and composite bridges.
• Prepare detailed bridge designs, drawings, specifications, and construction docs.
• Perform advanced structural modeling and analysis using specialized software.
• Manage bridge projects from inception through construction and inspection.
• Provide mentorship to junior bridge engineers and technicians.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and authorities on bridge matters.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis of various bridge types (concrete, steel, composite).
• Prepare detailed bridge designs, drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Perform advanced structural modeling and analysis using specialized software.
• Ensure compliance with SANRAL, provincial, and national bridge design codes and standards.
• Manage bridge engineering projects from inception through construction and inspection phases.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior bridge engineers and technicians.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and constructability reviews.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities on bridge-related matters.
• Oversee quality assurance and control for bridge design and construction activities.
• Contribute to business development and proposal preparation for bridge projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a specialization in bridge engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience specifically in bridge design and analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of bridge design software (e.g., MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge, LEAP Bridge).
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS) and CAD/BIM tools.
