Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Structural Design Engineer in Gauteng (Tembisa). You will design and develop structural systems for residential and commercial projects, ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.

The role blends site-based and office-based work across the full project lifecycle, from conception to completion. You will work with architects, project managers and construction teams to deliver robust solutions, using SAP2000/ETABS and drafting tools, while applying

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech.Eng registration with ECSA required
Minimum 7 years of structural design experience
Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, Prokon or similar software
AutoCAD and/or Revit for drafting
Strong knowledge of materials (concrete, steel, masonry, timber) and codes

Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and design for new buildings and renovations (concrete, steel, timber)
Create detailed drawings, calculations, and specifications using relevant software
Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and safety
Collaborate with architects, developers, and contractors to meet requirements and budget
Review shop drawings and submittals from contractors
Prepare technical reports and design documentation for clients and approvals
Ensure designs comply with South African building codes and standards
Troubleshoot structural issues during design and construction
Stay updated on new materials and design methodologies
