Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Geophysicist specializing in seismic interpretation to join our exploration team in Randburg. This hybrid role enables detailed data analysis remotely while featuring on-site collaboration and project discussions.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s or PhD in Geophysics with 6+ years in seismic interpretation, proficiency in Petrel/Kingdom/HampsonRussell, and strong communication skills to present findings to multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in seismic data interpretation within the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency with leading geophysical interpretation software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, HampsonRussell).
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and attribute analysis techniques.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective communication skills for presenting complex technical findings in both remote and in-person settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality 2D and 3D seismic data interpretation to identify geological structures and stratigraphic traps.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information for comprehensive subsurface analysis.
• Utilize industry-standard geophysical software for data processing, visualization, and interpretation.
• Map reservoir properties and assess exploration potential based on seismic attributes.
• Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to refine exploration targets.
• Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations on seismic interpretation results and recommendations.
