Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Geophysicist specializing in seismic interpretation to support exploration activities in Upington, Northern Cape. You will analyze seismic data to identify subsurface structures and assist in reservoir evaluation alongside geologists and engineers.

You will work with advanced seismic software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite), contribute to exploration strategy, and participate in diverse geological plays within the energy sector.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or related Earth Science.
• Minimum of 6 years of seismic interpretation experience in Oil & Gas exploration.
• Proficiency with Petrel and Kingdom Suite or similar software.
• Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing and data quality control.
• Experience with AVO analysis and attribute interpretation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify structures, faults, and stratigraphic features.
• Perform seismic attribute analysis and inversion to map reservoir properties.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information.
• Generate prospect maps and volumetric assessments for hydrocarbon accumulations.
• Collaborate with geological and reservoir teams on field development planning.
• Develop and apply new seismic processing and interpretation techniques.
