Placements24 is seeking a Principal Reservoir Simulation Specialist for a hybrid role based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA. You will lead complex 3D reservoir models, forecast performance under development scenarios, and guide field development decisions alongside geoscience and production engineers.

The role requires 12+ years in reservoir simulation, advanced proficiency with ECLIPSE/CMG/INTERSECT, and strong history matching skills. A Master’s or PhD in Petroleum Engineering is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of specialized reservoir simulation experience.
• Advanced proficiency with industry-standard simulators (ECLIPSE, CMG, INTERSECT).
• Strong history matching and uncertainty analysis experience.
• Experience integrating geological models into dynamic simulation.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, calibration, and validation of 3D reservoir models.
• Forecast performance under multiple development scenarios.
• Evaluate recovery methods and their impact on field economics.
• Guide simulation workflows, methodologies and software usage.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers in best practices.
• Collaborate with geoscience teams to integrate geological models.
• Prepare technical reports and present findings to senior management.
• Contribute to strategic planning for field development and asset management.
