Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Reservoir Modeler for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will lead 3D reservoir models, integrate diverse subsurface data, and guide junior staff across geoscience and engineering teams.

The role requires a strong background in Petrel, RMS, and reservoir simulation (ECLIPSE/INTERSECT) with a PhD or Master’s in Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering, and 8+ years of upstream experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of upstream reservoir modeling experience.
• Experience with 3D geological modeling software (Petrel, RMS).
• Proficiency in reservoir simulation concepts and familiarity with ECLIPSE/INTERSECT.
• Strong knowledge of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration for remote teams.
• Eligible to work remotely within South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction and validation of detailed 3D reservoir models using industry-standard software.
• Integrate geological, petrophysical, and engineering data to build predictive models.
• Perform uncertainty analysis and sensitivity studies on model parameters.
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers for model consistency.
• Develop simulation grids and prepare models for dynamic reservoir simulation.
• Mentor junior reservoir modelers and provide technical oversight.
• Stay current with advances in reservoir modeling technologies.
• Communicate results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
