Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior SOC Analyst for a remote-first role. You will monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats in a globally distributed team, shaping SOC operations and playbooks from a home office.

The role requires 5+ years in SOC, strong SIEM/EDR experience, and excellent communication for remote collaboration. You will work across regions connected to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, and mentor junior analysts while staying current on threats,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT or related field or equivalent exp.
• Minimum 5 years in SOC or similar security monitoring role.
• Experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk/QRadar/LogRhythm) and EDR solutions.
• Strong knowledge of networks, OS (Windows, Linux) and common attack vectors.
• Experience with incident response procedures and threat intel utilization.
• Excellent communication and remote teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR and threat feeds.
• Perform incident triage, determine scope and containment actions.
• Investigate suspicious activity and potential breaches.
• Develop detection rules, use cases and correlation in SIEM.
• Coordinate with incident response teams to mitigate threats.
• Document incidents and lessons learned clearly.
• Contribute to SOC playbooks and procedures.
• Mentor junior SOC analysts and share best practices.
• Engage in threat hunting to identify emerging threats.
