Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a vigilant SOC Analyst to monitor security alerts, perform initial triage, and respond to incidents in a fully remote role. You will work with SIEM, EDR, and IDS/IPS tools, escalating incidents as needed to protect organizational assets across regions including Nelspruit.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in a cybersecurity-related field and 1–3 years in a SOC or similar setting, with strong analytical skills and knowledge of modern threat landscapes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in a SOC or similar security operations role.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms and security monitoring concepts.
• Understanding of common cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques.
• Basic knowledge of network protocols and operating systems.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR sources.
• Perform initial analysis and triage of alerts to determine severity and scope.
• Respond to and document incidents per established procedures.
• Escalate critical incidents to senior analysts or IR teams.
• Maintain and update SOC playbooks and procedures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of SOC detection capabilities.
