Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Credit Risk Manager to oversee the credit risk framework for a South African financial services client. The role is fully remote with occasional gatherings near Mossel Bay.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
• 6+ years of progressive experience in credit risk management, preferably in Banking & Finance.
• Experience developing and implementing credit risk models (PD, LGD, EAD).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust credit risk policies and procedures.
• Analyze loan portfolios to identify concentrations, assess risk levels, and forecast potential losses.
• Design and validate credit scoring models and other risk assessment tools.
• Monitor economic trends and industry developments to proactively identify emerging credit risks.
• Work with business units to ensure prudent lending practices and effective risk management.
• Prepare regular reports on credit risk exposure, performance, and capital adequacy for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations (e.g., Basel Accords), and internal risk appetite.
• Lead and mentor a team of credit analysts, fostering a culture of strong risk management.
• Investigate and recommend strategies for mitigating identified credit risks.
