Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Risk Manager specializing in Credit Risk for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will develop and manage the credit risk framework, policies, and procedures to ensure stability of the lending portfolio and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a master's/PhD in a quantitative field with 7+ years in credit risk, strong modeling skills (PD/LGD/EAD), Basel knowledge, and proficiency in R, Python, or SAS.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in credit risk management within the financial services sector.
• Proven expertise in credit risk modeling, portfolio analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust credit risk policies, procedures, and methodologies.
• Oversee the assessment and management of credit risk across the company's loan portfolio.
• Design, implement, and validate credit risk models, including PD, LGD, and EAD models.
• Conduct regular stress testing and scenario analysis on the credit portfolio.
• Monitor credit risk exposures and identify emerging trends and potential areas of concern.
• Collaborate with business units to ensure effective credit risk management practices are embedded in lending operations.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on credit risk profile, performance, and capital adequacy for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and guidelines related to credit risk.
• Mentor and guide junior risk analysts and contribute to the development of the risk management team.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and advancements in credit risk management techniques.
