Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Corporate Compliance Officer to lead our compliance program in a remote setting. You will ensure adherence to SA laws, privacy, anti-bribery, and internal policies while embedding a culture of integrity across the organization.

You will conduct risk assessments, develop controls, train staff, and report to senior management. A strong background in tech or financial services compliance is preferred, with excellent communication and independent work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CCEP, CRM) is advantageous.
• Minimum 6 years in corporate compliance, risk management, or internal audit.
• Comprehensive knowledge of SA legislation (Companies Act, POPIA) and international standards.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective compliance programs.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities remotely.
• High integrity and ethical conduct.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's overall compliance program, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to identify compliance vulnerabilities and develop corrective actions.
• Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to prevent illicit conduct.
• Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices, updating compliance strategies accordingly.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs to employees at all levels.
• Investigate compliance concerns and potential violations, recommending disciplinary actions where needed.
• Prepare and present regular compliance reports to senior management and the board.
• Oversee compliance with data privacy regulations (POPIA, GDPR if applicable), anti-bribery, and anti-corruption laws.
