Placements24 seeks a Cloud Security Engineer to join an entirely remote team serving clients across South Africa. You will design secure cloud architectures, implement automated security controls across AWS, Azure, and GCP, and respond to incidents.

The role emphasizes threat monitoring, policy enforcement, and collaboration with development teams. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in information security with strong cloud security expertise, scripting ability, and cloud certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in information security with a strong cloud security focus.
• Proven experience securing AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
• Hands-on experience with cloud security tools and IAM in the cloud.
• Scripting proficiency (Python, Bash) for automation.
• Understanding of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless security is a plus.
• Relevant cloud security certifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security solutions for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Implement and manage security tools in the cloud (WAFs, IDS/IPS, SIEM, scanners).
• Automate security operations including incident response and compliance monitoring.
• Conduct security reviews of cloud architectures and deployments.
• Monitor cloud environments for threats and respond to incidents; collaborate with teams to ensure secure deployments.
