Placements24 seeks a Senior Telecoms Engineer specializing in Radio Access Networks (RAN) to design, optimize, and manage 4G/5G mobile infrastructure in Randburg. You will drive performance, drive tests, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced telecoms environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on RAN expertise, collaboration with core network and transport teams, and staying current with Open RAN and Massive MIMO developments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in RAN engineering, focusing on 3G, 4G/LTE, and 5G technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of RAN architecture, protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and KPIs.
• Experience with RAN planning and optimization tools.
• Familiarity with radio propagation and antenna theory.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex network data.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement RAN network solutions, including site acquisition and configuration.
• Optimize RAN performance parameters to enhance capacity, coverage, and user experience.
• Troubleshoot complex RAN issues, including interference, handover problems, and performance degradation.
• Conduct drive tests and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement.
• Stay current with new RAN technologies (e.g., Open RAN, Massive MIMO) and vendor roadmaps.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams (core network, transport) to ensure seamless integration.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior RAN engineers.
