Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer for our Richards Bay operations. The role focuses on planning, designing, deploying, and optimizing mobile network RAN infrastructure to ensure robust connectivity for customers.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years in RAN engineering, with hands-on experience across 4G/LTE and 5G technologies, and proficiency with RAN planning tools. A hybrid work arrangement is available to balance office and field activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Radio Access Network engineering with 4G/LTE and 5G expertise.
• Proficiency with RAN planning and optimization tools.
• Hands-on experience with equipment from major RAN vendors.
• Strong understanding of radio propagation and interference management.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design RAN network elements, including base stations, antennas, and associated infrastructure.
• Configure and commission new RAN sites, ensuring alignment with network design specifications.
• Monitor RAN performance metrics and conduct optimization activities to improve coverage, capacity, and quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve RAN-related issues, including interference and performance degradation.
• Collaborate with site acquisition teams and field technicians during deployment phases.
• Evaluate new RAN technologies and features for potential deployment.
