Job summary

Placements24 partners with a prominent construction and development firm in Benoni, Gauteng, to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor. The role centers on leading cost management, tender evaluation, and commercial oversight from project inception to completion.

You will conduct site measurements, manage variations, and prepare monthly cost forecasts, while negotiating with contractors and liaising with clients and consultants in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., BSc, BTech) or equivalent accreditation.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in quantity surveying, with a significant portion in a senior role.
• Proven experience managing commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of JBCC, NEC, FIDIC contracts.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in CostX and MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the cost management function for assigned construction projects.
• Prepare accurate BoQs, cost estimates, and tender documentation.
• Evaluate and negotiate contractor and subcontractor tenders.
• Administer construction contracts, including variations, claims, and disputes.
• Conduct site measurements and verify progress for interim payment certificates.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and financial forecasts for projects.
• Manage final accounts and ensure timely settlement of all contractual obligations.
• Provide expert advice on cost-saving measures and procurement strategies.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and project teams to ensure financial alignment.
• Maintain high standards of commercial control and risk management.
